Welcome to the Human Prototype blog, a space where the past and present converge to showcase the evolution of a life in progress. Inspired by my TEDx talk, "I am a Prototype," this blog is part of a broader journey of transformation through journaling, capturing the essence of living as a perpetual prototype. Each week, during 2024, I reviewed my archives from 2016, contrasting journal scans filled with drawings against the backdrop of my current experiences.
Tired

Then: November 21-27, 2016
A few highlights from that week:
- The introduction of a new feline companion for Oscar—Boris. Boris was very vocal, and poor thing was adjusting to a new place. The vet had suggested to give Oscar a friend to help him with his stress, so that week we did a test with a new friend.
- In the meantime, Oscar was diagnosed with bladder stones, which was a worrying time.
- At work, we had another fun day at the office, celebrating our diverse team of 40 nationalities. I really enjoyed that aspect of the office in Dubai. I have learned so much from different cultures.
- On a personal level, I continued my morning meditation practice consistently. Being in the wintery and dark London in 2024, I often wish I could still walk to the beach in the mornings during winter to meditate.
- I also indulged in two bubble teas—another step into what would become a delightful addiction.
- A visit to the hairdresser was another highlight. I can’t remember if I changed my hairstyle significantly. I’ll see if I can find some pictures.
- Thursday was a bit stressful, and I guess that my CrossFit session that day was helpful. (Interestingly, I had a little breakdown on Thursday of the same week in 2024).
- I ended the week with a big nap on Friday, maybe because of Boris’ vocalizations in the middle of the night.

Now: November 25- December 1, 2024
This week was about finding balance, managing challenges, and creating space for self-care and creativity. Here are the highlights(note: this summary was partly generated by AI based on my voice-over):
- Oracle Card Readings:
- During yoga, I offered Oracle card readings for four people. It was a heartwarming and magical experience, with one person pulling the last card in the deck and another pulling the first—an intriguing synchronicity worth noting.
- Productivity Block:
- Felt tired and unproductive for much of the week but used the body-doubling app Flown to stay focused. This tool, which I’ve used since May, has helped me complete over 150 sessions and make progress despite low energy.
- Life Admin:
- Navigating healthcare remained stressful, especially sorting out a physio appointment and dealing with insurance complexities. I also had a CT scan at the dentist and felt overwhelmed by potential treatment costs. The stress left me faint and exhausted, but I’m taking steps to address these challenges, including exploring the idea of hiring a virtual assistant to help manage life admin.
- Rest and Creation:
- Spent the weekend resting and engaging in creative projects, including painting small boxes and making wax melts with glitter and oud-and-rose scents. These activities taught me patience as I slowed down and embraced the process rather than focusing on efficiency.
- Highlights of the Week:
- Enjoyed a Christmas lunch with colleagues that filled my heart (and stomach) with joy, though it left me feeling a bit guilty about not being more productive.
- Explored the idea of hiring a virtual assistant to help manage life’s complexities—a step I initiated this week.
This week was a gentle reminder to prioritize self-care, rest, and patience, even when life feels overwhelming. Creativity and small accomplishments brought moments of peace and joy, making the challenges easier to bear. Thank you for being here and sending love from West London! 💖
